ZGClub engages the Africa Centre Trustees [18 June 20011]

The Zimbabwe Growth Club [ZGClub] represented by Chipiwa Matowanyika met with the Africa Centre trustee Bimpe Nkontchou to input on issues regarding the future of The Africa Centre. The background story surrounds a controversial decision by the Africa Centre trustees to sell off the Centre to a property developer. There is currently a campaign, backed by the likes of Desmond Tutu ( http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/jun/03/desmond-tutu-africa-centre-sale?INTCMP=SRCH) and Boris Johnson, to have a transparent process of the sale and future use of the Africa Centre, prompting an open involvement of stakeholders, particularly African Diaspora groups which currently us the Centre and which will find it useful in the future. All comments and suggestions were duly noted and instigated a continued engagement as an consultatitive stakeholders on this subject. The Dotun Adebayo Show on Sunday - from 8pm on 94.9 FM – on the 19th June 2011 featured a debate on the future of The Africa Centre and both the Trustees and the Save The Africa Centre campaigners, were represented. The ZGClub was involved in the call-in show and both listened in and participated in the show.

To follow this discussion, please visit the Africa Centre website: http://www.africacentre.org.uk/ and join the Africa Centre facebook page where you can also post your comments and play your part in being a part of the transformation of the Africa Centre into an institution that truly represents Africa in the 21st Century.
